Inspired by the reconstruction and reopening of the Gothic cathedral after the fire. Notre Dame de Paris has come to symbolize perseverance and resilience. The vibrant blue is often associated with Notre Dame de Paris, as the cathedral’s stained glass windows feature striking blues created from lapis lazuli, an expensive blue stone from Afghanistan. Also, the medieval statuary of the cathedral which dates from the 12th and 13th centuries once depicted the robes of Christ and prophets in brilliant blue. The color blue is also associated with the Virgin Mary, for whom the cathedral was built, as it symbolizes purity, virginity and motherhood. This stylized rendition of the actual architectural drawings of Notre Dame de Paris pays tribute to the pointed arches, stained glass windows, ribbed vaults, spires and flying buttresses which are signatures of the Gothic style architecture.
